Stuart and a fellow business partner and friend founded the Pacific Coast Condensed Milk Company in Kent, Washington. However, in 1901 his partner sold out and Stuart was left with the company and a debt of a whooping $105,000. E.A. He immediately incorporated the name and distributed his products under the name of 'Nestle Carnations'. In order to have the best quality milk and milk production, Stuart distributed purebred bulls to the farmers supplying milk to his factory. The natural result was that the offspring from these bulls were better milk producers. The fact that quality milk came only from quality cows eventually led to the establishment of a special breeding farm, known as CARNATION Farm and the home of Nestle Carnations.
